Michael Horowitz outlines an action plan and agenda to awaken the conscience of Americans, particularly Korean-Americans, to the plight of those suffering under Kim Jong Il in North Korea. This statement comes in the wake of a remarkable journey Mr. Horowitz made to South Korea where he was disturbed by growing anti-Americanism in that country, but heartened by the willingness of students, senior government officials, and citizens to hear the truth about U.S. policy and interests towards their nation. The Midland Ministerial Alliance is pleased to sponsor this presentation as part of a week-long series of activities to rally support and interest for the North Korea Freedom Act (S. 1903), a remarkable and significant piece of legislation making human rights a central component of all negotiations (including for weapons of mass destruction) with North Korea.
