Each speaker will have 10 minutes for an opening statement and a 5 minute response.

Carol Adelman is a Senior Fellow and Director of Hudson's Center for Science in Public Policy, specializing in development, aid, trade and health. During 30 years as a public servant and consultant to private businesses and non-profit organizations, Adelman has specialized in international public policy and overseas business marketing and development. Her experience with the federal government includes work with the Office of Economic Opportunity and the Agency for International Development, where she served as a career foreign service officer and as a Presidential appointee heading U.S. foreign aid programs to Asia, the Middle East, and Central and Eastern Europe.

Steve Radelet, a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development, is an expert in aid, debt, growth, and trade between rich and poor countries. He was Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for Africa, the Middle East, and Asia; and was previously on the faculty at Harvard University, where he was a Fellow at the Harvard Institute for International Development (HIID), Director of the Institute's Macroeconomics Program, and a Lecturer on Economics and Public Policy. From 1991-95, he lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he was HIID's resident advisor on macroeconomic policy to the Indonesian Ministry of Finance.

Sebastian Mallaby, Columnist and Editorial Writer at The Washington Post, writes frequently on development and is the author of the recently published book, The World's Banker: A Story of Failed States, Financial Crises, and The Wealth and Poverty of Nations.
