3:00-5:00 p.m. Thomas P.M. Barnett, an adviser for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, will present his new book Blueprint for Action. His previous work, The Pentagon's New Map, analyzed security, economic, political, and cultural factors to provide a fundamental reexamination of war and peace in the post-9/11 world. In Blueprint for Action, Dr. Barnett explains how we could achieve a better future by exploring both long- and short-term pathways for governments, institutions, and individuals. Paying particular attention to crucial world regions, Dr. Barnett outlines the strategies we should pursue, the entities we can create, and the pitfalls we must overcome.
