Finding the Best Energy Strategy for China

October 29, 2006,

Given the rapidly rising Chinese demand for energy resources, few issues have a greater chance of influencing the course of global development than China’s choice of an energy policy. With this in mind, the Washington, D.C.,-based public policy research organization Hudson Institute will co-host a conference in Beijing with one of China’s premier public policy research institutes, the China Society for Strategy and Management Research (CSSM), this October 28–29, entitled “Finding the Best Energy Strategy for China.” The conference will bring together Chinese and international leaders in the governmental and non-governmental energy fields to discuss the changing energy environment for China and to suggest new opportunities for international cooperation moving forward. Topics will range from energy development, new technologies, and capital financing, to environmental protection, renewable energies, and energy conservation.

Speakers will include: Zeyno Baran, Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute

Charles Horner, Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute

Walter P. Stern, Chairman, Hudson Institute, and Vice Chairman, Capital International, Inc.

Kenneth R. Weinstein, Chief Executive Officer, Hudson Institute

Gianni De Michelis, Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs, EU, and Former Deputy Prime Minister of Italy

Wei Zhang, Director, Institute of Military Science, Chinese Navy
