Off-The-Record Discussion with General Ergin Saygun, Deputy Chief of the Turkish General StaffNovember 17, 2006, 10:00 - 11:30 AM - Hudson Institute, Washington, D.C. Headquarters Center for Eurasian Policy hosted Deputy Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Ergin Saygun in an off-the-record discussion on Friday, November 17. General Saygun shared his views on regional security challenges and possible areas for U.S.-Turkey cooperation.
A graduate of the War College in Turkey, General Saygun has held many distinguished posts, from Head of the Department of Strategy at the Turkish General Staff to the Commander of the 3rd Corps. In 1992, he served as the Regiment Commander of the Northern Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces, leading to his appointment as the Head of Logistics and Deployments Department at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Belgium. Before assuming his current post as the Deputy Chief of the Turkish General Staff on August 30, 2006, General Saygun served as the Chief of Staff of the Turkish Land Forces.
