Hudson Institute invites you to luncheon seminar for the third of Hudson’s Telecommunications, Information, and Security Policy Seminar series with Viet Dinh, Professor of Law at Georgetown University and former Assistant Attorney General of the United States. Prof. Dinh will speak about the need for good intercept capabilities to discover and disrupt terrorist conspiracies. In this context, he will discuss the current executive privilege fight between Congress and the White House, especially vis-à-vis the fight over executive privilege for US Attorneys, as well as the recent 6th Circuit decision on the NSA wire-tapping operation.

Viet Dinh is founder and principal of Bancroft Associates. He is Professor of Law and Co-Director of Asian Law & Policy Studies at the Georgetown University Law Center. He also serves as a Director and Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee of the News Corporation. Dinh previously served as U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Legal Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2001 to 2003. In that capacity, Dinh conducted a comprehensive review and revision of Department of Justice priorities, policies and practices to ensure that all available resources are dedicated to protecting America against terrorist acts. He played a key role in developing the USA PATRIOT Act and revising the Attorney General’s Guidelines, which govern federal law enforcement activities and national security investigations.

Professor Dinh will be introduced by Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Harold Furchtgott-Roth, former Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission.

Lunch will be served.

To RSVP (acceptances only), please email name and affiliation to Ioannis Saratsis at isaratsis@hudson.org.
