President George W. Bush meets with the H.E.L.P. Commission

February 12, 2008,

President George W. Bush attends the National Security Advisor's meeting with the Helping to Enhance the Livelihood of People around the Globe (H.E.L.P.) Commission Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, in the Roosevelt Room at the White House. The H.E.L.P. Commission reviews foreign assistance and provides recommendations to the President and Congress. Carol Adelman serves as vice chair of the H.E.L.P. Commission, which made a variety of recommendations on foreign aid issues including topics of interest to Hudson Institute’s Center for Global Prosperity.

The policy paper, “Foreign Assistance: What Works and What Doesn’t with Recommendations for Future Improvements,” prepared for the H.E.L.P. Commission on March 12, 2007 and finalized December 14, 2007, by Commissioners Dr. Carol Adelman, Dr. Nicholas Eberstadt, and Commission Staff Consultants Dr. Susan Raymond, and Ms. Melissa Griswold can be downloaded here.
