An Address by His Excellency Husain Haqqani, Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States

As part of the Hudson Institute-Hunter College Forum Series, Ambassador Husain Haqqani, who was visiting New York from Washington with Pakistan's Prime Minister on the occasion of the UN General Assembly, presented a talk on the role Pakistan is playing in the War on Terror.
Kenneth Weinstein and Husain Haqqani Ambassador Haqqani is deeply engaged in shaping Pakistan's foreign and defense policies, including serving as a national security adviser to Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. In addition, he held numerous high ranking positions in government including Pakistan's Ambassador to Sri Lanka and political adviser to Pakistani Prime Ministers Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Nawaz Sharif, and Benazir Bhutto. He was a professor at Boston University and served as Co-Chair of Hudson Institute's Project on the Future of the Muslim World, as well as editor of our journal, Current Trends in Islamist Ideology.
The event was held at Roosevelt House, the historic New York City home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and FDR's mother Sara, which has been an integral part of Hunter College since 1943. Following an extensive renovation, it reopened in 2010 as a public policy institute honoring the distinguished Roosevelt legacy.
Jonathan Fanton, Interim Director and Franklin D. Roosevelt Fellow, Roosevelt House, gave welcoming remarks. Hudson President and CEO Kenneth Weinstein introduced.
