Furchtgott-Roth and Commissioner McDowell

FCC Commissioner McDowell has often noted that decreasing the burdens of onerous or unnecessary regulations increases investment, spurs innovation, accelerates competition, lowers prices, creates jobs and serves consumers. He has also expressed his view that the FCC should approach its statutory mission through a deregulatory lens, as Congress intended.

Hudson Institute's Center for Economics of the Internet was pleased to host a fireside chat between current FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell and former FCC Commissioner Harold Furchtgott-Roth, now the Director of the Center.

Commissioner McDowell was first appointed to a seat on the FCC by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the Senate in 2006. When he was reappointed to the Commission on 2009, McDowell became the first Republican to be appointed to an independent agency by President Barack Obama.
