Event Summary and Conclusions

June 6, 2008
by Center for Eurasian Policy

Hudson Institute's Center for Eurasian Policy, in cooperation with the Azerbaijan-Turkey Business Association (ATIB) and the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute (CACI) at Johns Hopkins University-SAIS hosted a conference on December 10, 2007 to discuss challenges and opportunities for Azerbaijan, Turkey and the United States for cooperation in Eurasia.

The conference brought together representatives from the government, economic, academic, and policy spheres of each country. Conference participants tried to define the goals of each state in the strategically important Eurasian region and also how they can work together to achieve them. The key issues discussed by conference participants were energy security, economic integration, questions of relations with Armenia and Iran, US strategic interests in the region, and the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and NATO.

This conference report summarizes the discussion for each major theme covered and uses the information to make recommendations for Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the United States. It is available in English, Azerbaijani and Turkish.
