Josh Block

Josh Block is an adjunct fellow at Hudson Institute. A foreign policy scholar and political strategist, Block has been involved in national politics and policy for nearly 25 years. He was a senior fellow at the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) until joining Hudson Institute in May 2021.

Mr. Block served as chief executive officer & president of The Israel Project (TIP), from 2012-2019. Block guided the organization in explaining complex foreign policy issues to public stakeholders, including journalists, diplomats, elected officials, and the public. Block was named a senior fellow at the Progressive Policy Institute in 2010, where he co-chaired the PPI-Freedom House Iran task force focused on human rights and Tehran's quest for regional hegemony. He joined the senior staff of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in 2001, where he was the group’s spokesman and director of strategic communications for a decade.

Under the Clinton Administration, Block served as a spokesman for the State Department’s US Agency for International Development (USAID), focused on Asia and the Near East, economic growth, and democracy promotion programs globally.

Mr. Block was the founder of a boutique communications firm specializing in politics and international issues, where his clients included the United Nation’s World Health Organization, the US Trade and Development Agency, and several high profile political and advocacy campaigns.

He has appeared regularly in US and international print and broadcast outlets, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the LA Times, the Jerusalem Post, and PBS Newshour.

A third-generation Californian and graduate of Brandeis University, Mr. Block lives in the area with his wife Kimberly and four children.
