WASHINGTON—Hudson Institute announced that Dr. William Chou has joined as a Japan Chair fellow. His work will focus on US-Japan relations and the Indo-Pacific, with an emphasis on regional partnerships, defense innovation, technology, and trade.
Prior to joining Hudson, he served as the George P. Shultz Fellow at the Ronald Reagan Institute, and as a postdoctoral fellow at the Clements Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
“Will’s experience researching vital security issues and deep understanding of the Indo-Pacific make him an invaluable asset to our work in the region,” said Japan Chair Kenneth R. Weinstein. “His expertise will advance our efforts to strengthen ties between America and Japan, our most important ally.”
Dr. Chou’s forthcoming book, Made for America: Postwar Japanese Exports and the Evolution of US-Japanese Relations, examines US-Japanese security, business, and cultural relations from the perspective of Japanese commercial trade. He previously worked as a researcher at the US Army’s Center for Military History and the Institute for Defense Analyses, focusing on the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, intelligence integration, defense planning, and counterterrorism.
Dr. Chou holds a BA in history from Yale University and an MA and PhD in history from The Ohio State University. He is a former Jeopardy! champion.
