WASHINGTON—Hudson Institute released the following statement from President and CEO John Walters on the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe:

The assassination of Prime Minister Abe is shocking and heartbreaking. Abe-san was a "transformative leader of Japan, a true ally of the United States and, for nearly two decades, a close friend of Hudson Institute We share his vision and commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, to national and economic security, and to the defense of Taiwan’s democracy. Our prayers are with his family and the people of Japan."
