Senator John McCain was a hero and patriot, a lion of the U.S. Senate, and a staunch champion of American security interests—and the interests of democracy and human rights across the globe.
We at Hudson Institute, sharing his commitment to U.S. international leadership in partnership with our allies, were honored to work closely with Senator McCain over his long and distinguished career. Following the 2000 presidential primaries, Senator McCain chose Hudson as the venue for his major policy initiative, the Conservative Reform Project. In more recent years, Hudson and its experts frequently collaborated with Senator McCain in his capacity as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, most notably in the formulation of a series of hearings to examine how best American defense strategists should respond to rising global instability.
Hudson was also honored to welcome Senator McCain as a regular featured speaker at events in both Washington, DC and New York City. His final appearance at Hudson was an extended and wide-ranging conversation about American foreign policy and world affairs with Distinguished Fellow Walter Russell Mead on July 21, 2015.
