Senate Communications Strategist Joins Hudson Leadership

Washington, September 4, 2018 -- Hudson Institute announced today that Ann Marie Hauser has been named vice president of public affairs. At Hudson Institute, Hauser will lead public affairs strategy for the think tank’s extensive agenda of research publications, policy events, and media engagement.

“Ann Marie Hauser brings a wealth of experience shaping Washington public policy debates,” said Ken Weinstein, President and CEO of Hudson Institute. “As a veteran communications strategist and policy expert, Ann Marie’s leadership will amplify the impact of Hudson’s wide-ranging expertise.”

Most recently, Hauser served as deputy staff director of the U.S. Senate Republican Conference chaired by Sen. John Thune (R-SD), where she led efforts to promote the Republican conference’s platform of pro-growth policies and strengthen messaging after the party regained the Senate majority in 2014. Previously, she managed public affairs strategy for Patomak Global Partners, and prior to that served as managing vice president at JDA Frontline. In these roles, she was a frequent panel guest at news outlets and conferences, addressing the role of women in politics.

She has previously served as communications director for Governor Tim Pawlenty’s presidential bid and communications director for Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE). During the George W. Bush administration, she was the director of public affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce and spokesperson at the U.S. Department of Treasury. In addition, Hauser was regional press secretary at the Republican National Committee in the 2006 cycle and the Iowa communications director for the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign in 2004. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
