WASHINGTON In the face of looming deficit spending battles in Congress, U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) will highlight in a Hudson Institute address on Tuesday, July 17, how excessive debt, spending, and overregulation in Washington are impeding economic growth; and how pro-growth tax reformcombined with a long-term plan to restore solvency to Social Security and Medicarewould cause our economy to take off. Senator Corker, based on his personal experience as a businessman and public servant, will emphasize the importance of embracing free enterprise so future generations will have an opportunity to earn success and live the American dream.
Formerly Tennessee's Commissioner of Finance and Mayor of Chattanooga, Senator Corker was elected to the United States Senate in 2006. He is a Member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, and Ranking Member of the Special Committee on Aging.
Hudson Institute President and CEO Kenneth Weinstein will introduce Senator Corker. Hudson Distinguished Fellow Christopher DeMuth will moderate the discussion.
